January: Stop, the ocean is speaking.
I spent my first day of 2024 observing the intricacy around me as I walked about the beach. I saw all the shells, more than I had ever seen and observed their beauty from where they rested. Careful to not step or touch them, they were perfect as they were, I simply looked.
I saw all the washed up wood, smooth from their travels, transformed from the contacts they had made below the surface.
I saw big rocks filled with holes and craters, looking like outlines of what they once were.
Holes and pieces. Whole pieces.
Dried up seaweed looked like organs of another living being and everything, all together looked like puzzle pieces to a whole.
It was a puzzle that did not belong to me, as all the pieces rested in their perfect place. But I was fascinated by all the unique objects.
I wonder what I looked like to them? In the past few days the ocean has been so loud. I wonder what she is saying.
2024 has arrived and I felt so present.
I could do with more of that, I don’t know about you?
I don’t know where I’ll be in a year, but here is a good start.
